Eligibility Reminder for All Teams

The below guidelines and rules are not for interpretation and will be followed as written.  There is no "bargaining", as in "we have ineligible players and so do you so we'll let it slide", or " its my son or daughter and I just want to play with them over the summer".  Connecticut Hockey League has 9 Tiers, and there is a place for every level player, and is committed to insure "Fair Play" is promoted.

Any time an opposing captain "calls out" or " asks for a review of" a particular player,... before, during or after a game, that player will be immediately removed if not within the guidelines below.  The Connecticut Hockey League is committed to promoting fair and reasonable play within all tiers.  Forfeits can and will be issued anytime the 48 hour rule is not followed and an illegal player is brought to play. ( see below).

These are not "New" Rules or Guidelines.  These guidelines were set up in 2015.

Tier 1 All Stars - Expert

    1. 16 and over with no limitation (open division).

Tier 2  - Highly Advanced 

    1. 16 and over with High Level Skill.

    2.  No Pro or Division I, II, or III, within 5 years

*Beginning Fall of 2015 - Junior "A" players are eligible after 3 years of last game played. ( Matching Club Hockey requirements).  Posted 7/22/15

Tier 3 - Advanced

    1. 16 and older with above average playing skill

    2. No Pro or Division I, II, III within 5 years, No Club Hockey or Junior A experience within 5 years of last game played. 

Tier 4  - Advanced Intermediate 

    1. 16 and older with average hockey playing skill.

    2.  No High School within 3 years of last game played

    3.  2. No Pro or Division I, II, III, Club Hockey, Junior (A) within 7 years

Tier 5 - Intermediate

    1.  16 and older with less than average hockey playing skill

    2.  No High School or Junior players within 3 years of last game played

    3.  No Pro or Division I, II, III, Club Hockey, Junior (A) within 10 years

Tier 6 - Lower Intermediate

    1. 16 and older - Intermediate Playing Level

    2.  No High School or Junior players within 5 years of last game played

    3.  No Pro or Division I, II, III, Club Hockey, Junior (A) within 12 years

Tier 7 - Advanced Beginner

    1. 16 and older - Intermediate Playing Level

    2. No High School or Junior players within 7 years of last game played

    3. No Pro or Division I, II, III, Club Hockey, Junior (A) within 15 years

Tier 8 - Beginner 

    Designed for Players coming out of the Foundry "Adult" learn to play program.  All players in this tier are ineligible for any other tier above tier 7,  and wil be reviewed by league management for eligibilty for tier(s) 6 and higher.

CWHL - The CWHL is currently "Open" with no restriction

Female Players in the CHL will be put for review among all captains upon another captain putting them up for vote for potentially being "too skilled".

The League rules for roster movement are as follows:

1. If someone, initially rostered, does not pay or show, or is injured and they are removed from the roster, you can add a player to fill his spot at any point in the session.  That player must play the required number of games to be eligible for playoffs.

2. Any change made to a roster must be "claimed" to the league at least 48 hours before the game starts. This allows ample time for the league to notify everyone. This includes goalies. "Claiming" is defined as an email or text.  Players showing up to games, not on the roster, that are not "claimed" 48 hours in advance will NOT be eligible to play and CAN cause a forfeit to that team.
